The copyright law is a legal concept by most Governments which gives the creator of original work they have created exclusive for a limited time. It gives other people 'the right to copy ' however the copyright holder also has the right to;
- Be credited for the work
- Determine who may change the work into other forms
- Who may perform the work
- Who may financially benefit from it
I had to apply for copyright from Florence + The Machine in order to use their song as it would be illegal to not get copyright permission from their record label and I could have been sued by the record label. In order to get a response from Florence + The Machine to get copyright permission to use their song - Spectrum - our group decided to email Florence + The Machine to get copyright permission. We decided in our group that Meghan could have the role to contact the record label in order to get copyright permission.
Me and my group have not got a response from Florence + The Machine yet, and we have emailed the record label several times, although we are still awaiting a reply.
